Some six hundred thousand dollars worth of notes were issued, and the popularity of these notes enhanced the prestige of the Municipal Bank, so much so that the volume of business being handled has so in- creased that difficulty is being ex- perienced in properly coping with the business offered..
The Same Company.. It is now rumoured that the new ricksha farmer company is simply the old company under a new name, and this move was made so as to retain the monopoly in their hands. Attention is also drawn to the rates, under the new terms. It is point. ed out that the Government gains an increase of $10 per year, but the ricksha company also makes more money. It charges the coolies 5 cents per day more than the old tate, and this works at 818 per year. Thus although the company pays the Government an extra $10 the company itself makes an extra 88 through this increase in rental to the coolies.

A Police cordon was drawn round the street in question and all it outlets were closed, no one being allowed to pass 'in or out of the prohibited area. The den was systematically searched, but nothing illegal was unearthed. This puzzled the Police greatly, as they, werd quite sure of the place.
