He was arrested by Lance-Sergt. Taylor and pleaded guilty to the offence. He remarked that he was instructed to do so by a European

Sai On reports that on the voyage to Canton on Monday night a Chinese passenger who was travelling in the intermediate class jumped overboard at about 19.30 a.m.-two hours after leaving Hong Kong. The alarm bells were rung, and the vessel stopped and put about. Lifeboats were made ready and lowered just above the water, so that they could be quickly re- leased if the man was spotted. A thorough search was made for three quarters of an hour but without any result.
