Adraitua, October 17th. The s.s. Prosper. (Norwegian) also Antenor, October 19th discharged a large cargo of rice trora Saigon.
Only six vessels carried through eargo, amounting to 6,483 tons. The .. Glenshane (British) again figured as best carrier with 3,029 while the Hung On (Chinese) from Part Kamfa carried 3,000 tona of coal.

Master And Owner Of Launch
द Charged, The owner and the master of the | +"KHIVA" steam launch On Fat was sumuman- MACHUONIA" ed for several offences against the †”KHYBEK' regulations governing launches in "MALWA” Hong Kong. The owner was aum- *NALDERA" moned for failing to report the "MANTUA" name of the newly installed master of the launch within 48 hours of his engagement, and the master was summoned for failing to present his certificate for registration with- in 48 hours of his appointment.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate decided to adjourn the hearing until this morning.
It was stated by the Police that they had boarded the launch on several occasions and had failed to find the certified master. Notices were issued but without effect. The owner of the launch explained that the second defendant held & Coxswain's certificate. He was not the master but occasionally took over charge of the launch in the absence of the certified master. The owner remarked that he could not afford to engage two masters,
Carrying Passengers In Excess. Another.. master of steam launch, the Ping Fo was also sum- moned for carrying sixty passen gers in excess to the number per mitted by his licence. The defen- dant pleaded guilty and a fine of 8120 with the alternative of three months' imprisonment with hard labour was imposed.
His launch was licensed to carry 119 passengers whereas the number on the launch when it was stopped was 179.
Asiatic Deck Passengers. Eight vessels brought 1.487 Asiatic deck passengers to the Colony during the 24 hours ended at 9 am yesterday."
