The first session of the Economie Conference has opened, and ..Mr. T. V. Soong has submitted five important points for considera- tion and discussion. His suggestions are put forward with a view to instilling more unity into the Republic of China, nad with this aim in view he suggests that there should be a uniform currency system, revision of domestic and foreign loan service, simplifica tion of the system of taxes, a revival of commerew and the trans- ference of expenditure from the war to productive enterprise,

Five conmmittees have been formed to cover thesë subjects, and they will draw up reports and submit them at the next General Session.
