FASHIONABLE CHINESE WEDDING.

MR. ROBERT HO TUNG-MISS HESTA ROSALIND HUNG.

H.E. THE HON. MR.W. T. SOUTHORN PROPOSES HEALTH OF BRIDAL COUPLE.

PRESENTS FROM HEADS OF CANTON

GOVERNMENT.

OVER A THOUSAND GUESTS.

"Idlewild," the residence of Sir Robert and Lady Ho Tung was the scene of the wedding yesterday of their son, Mr. Robert. Ho Tung to Miss Hesta Rosalind Hung, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hung Tise lại

This was certainly the most elaborately celebrated wedding seen in the Colony since Sir Robert and Lady Ho Tung's daughter was married to Mr. M. K. Lo, the well-known solicitor, some few years ago. There were over a thousand guests present, among whom were H.E. the Officer Administering the Government and Mrs. Southern.

The entire building was decorated with Chinese scrolls and coloured electric lights. At the main entrance was the usual Chinese company of musicians who welcomed with a clashing of cymbals and gongs, the guests as they arrived, and they also played as the party dispersed The emblems of Health, Wealth and Prosperity were crected just outside the entrance, and passing through the main hall, one came into the garden, with its masses of flowers and many symbolic scrolls. There the band of the King's On the Own Scottish Borderers were entertaining the guests. tennis court which is on the Robinson Road level a huge pavilion had been erected. Electric fans were installed and it was pro- fusely decorated with palms and flowers.

INSIDE THE PAVILION.

Little tables were arranged for the guests and everyone present admired the decoration in which the methods of East and West were very happily combined. Several intimate friends of Sir. Robert and Lady Ho Tung helped in looking after the comfort of the guests, among them Mr. J. P. Braga. Sir Robert Ho Tung and his brother Mr. Ho Kom Tong were at the main entrance to. receive the guests, and at the entrance of the pavilion where the reception was held, the guests were received by Lady Ho Tung and the parents of the bride.

The pavilion decorations have already been mentioned. In the centre was a huge wedding bell of flowers suspended from the ceiling and beside it was the wedding cake richly decorated with miniature silver wedding bells.

The bride entered the pavilion on the arm of her husband, looking very pretty in her charming rabe destyle in white satin, embroider ed with pearls and sequins, a creation of Jeanne Lauvin of Paris. The veil was of white tulle with a tiara of pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white Canton lilies.

í do too, to get away from the serious side of so momentous an occasion in two young lives.

But we don't want long, dull speeches at weddings, so without further waste of time I call upon you all to drink to the health, hap piness and prosperity of Mr. and dirs. Robert Ho Tung
