After a short period of rather low cargo returns, the freighta manifested for both Hong Kong and ports beyond the Colony show. ed a general increase. There were eighteen arrivals and eleven depar- tures during the B4 hours ended at

A fali percentage of the total cargo | Falthybius, July 24th, .. returns was also from British Theseus, July 23th. steamers, while the heaviest cargo for Hong Kong was shown by new British vessel which arrived for the first time in Hong Kong.
Local imports amounted to 19,103 tons, an increase of over 10,000 toas. Seven British vessels con- tributed 11,491 tons, and the best return was shown by the ss. Henry Deutsch de la Meurthe, with 7,800 tons of oil fuel from Tarakan. This is the vessel's first visit to Hong Kong, and she is consigned by the Asiatic Petroleum Company The sa. Lyeemoon another British vessel owned by the Wo Fat Shing Co., discharged 2,500 tons of rice from Saigon.
Ten vessels carried cargo for ports beyond amounting to 22,731 tons of which five British ships con tributed 7,781 toms. The .. Ben- tang (Dutch) carried 6,000 tons at general cargo from Los Angeles and the 8.5 Glentara (British) had 4,839 tons from Vladivostock, and Shanghai.

Among the vessels which arrived in Hong Kong yesterday was the 1.3. Henry Deutsch de la Meurthe This vessel is an oil fuel carrier and headed the list as the best cargo carrier, for Hong Kong with 7,804 toms of oil fuel. Messrs Asiatie Petroleum Company are the local agents for this vessel, while the owners are the Lutetian Navigation Company, Ltd. (Messrs. Newman & Davies, Ltd.).
The vessel was built in Bethlehem, France, and was launched in 1991.
