YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT RETURNS.
VERY POOR CARGO RETURNS. Pyrrhus, May 30th,
GOOD AVERAGE FOR THROUGH FREIGHTS. The cargo returns for the 24 hours ended at 9 am yesterday showed "With twelve very poor totala. arrivals and thirteen, departures the argoes for Hong Kong totalled just over 8,000 tons. Through cargo carried by six vessels exceeded 99,338 tons, and showed an average of 3,750 tons per vessel. The heaviest cargo carrier was a British ship with 8,000. tons.
General cargo discharged for this port amounted to 9,001 tons, most of which was rice from Saigon. The two best returns were shown by the Hwah Cheng with 3,230 tons of rice from Saigon, and the as. Prosper (Norwegian) from the same pot discharged 2,600 tons of ximlar cargo.
Through cargo carried by six -vessels showed & very good average- Three British vessels plone con- tributed 12,455 tons, while the best carrier was the 8. Mirzapore (British) with 9,000 tons of general cargo from Bombay and Singapore. The Dutch vessel jiliwong had 5,893 tons from Batavia and Amey, The arrivals and departures durs ing the period under review were as tollows:-
