This is because the load factor varies a great deal more in tho case of a small car than in that of large one. Imagine, for instance, a 7. b.p. four-seater, the weight of which unloaded may be 10 cwt. It may be called upon to carry one, two, three or four people, and their weights represent considerable addition to or re- duction of the total load carried by the road springs

Now let us go to the opposite ex- treme and assume that we have one of those very large and powerful sports models weighing perhaps 25 ewt., with accommodation for only two people.
