Hancock's brainy generalship, coupled with a keen anticipation of his opponents' shots, had the effect of breaking the Finchors game, while Tottenham sent in many forceful forehand drives between his opponents. The Finchers made a determined stand at this stage and playing a sound defensive game pulled the score to 6-4, but by cleverly mixing their shots in the next game, Hancock and Tottenham won it ab love and with it the second set.
