MAGNETO
STATIONARY ARMATURE
RETATING MAGNET
Based on an entirely new principle of design and con- struction, the SCINTILLA Magneto offers the Motor Industry the finest ignition system engineering scienco has ever produced. Its permanent magnet, the most robust part in any magneto, rotates. The delicate paris, such as the contact breaker with its contact points and the armature, are stationary.
The characteristic of the SCINTILLA Magneto lies therefore in the complete inversion of the systems hitherto known, and the numerous advantages of this magusto must be realized.

CAPTAIN CAMPBELL'S STORY OF HIS ESCAPE.
STRICKEN WITH TERROR AT
MOMENT OF VICTORY,
A copy to hand of an English paper gives a graphie account of Captain Campbell's record break ing speed run which nearly ended in disaster. He mya: **For a moment, when I struck a
bad bump, I thought I was gone I bounced half-way out of the car, but I managed to hold on and keep
the car on its course."
Captain Campbell thus described the critical period after he hadi established the record,
"If I had kidded" he went on, it would have been all over, for the Bluebird would have been on top of a crowd of spectators stand- ing a quarter of a mile away in
less than four seconds.
"I plan to stand by for the pre sent and await a better beach before determining whether I will attempt setting a higher record. If Mr. Lockhart sete a new record, I shall most certainly try again.".
U.S. Fraise. Following his remarkable achieve ment Captain Campbell was present at a dinner when the mechanics who helped in the preparations for his record breaking feat gathered to pay him honour.
The mechanics were more keyed up over the race than I was," Captain Campbell said.
The famous British motorist's De-
complishment was greeted to-day with enthusiasm and praise from motoring circles all over the United States.
The decisiveness of his achieve- ment leaves no room for doubt, and the fact that he attained the un- precedented speed against a heavy head wind adds to his triumph.

Just before I crossed the final wire I glanced at my instruments, and saw that I was making 220 miles an hoar."
Mrs. Campbell, who was watching the run from the grand stand, gasped audibly when she saw her husband's car strike a bump, and covered her face with her hands. Fearing that a serious accident had happened she did not lock up until friends told her that Captain Campbell had completed his test safely
