IMPROVEMENT IN SHAUKIWAN AND QUARRY BAY ROUTE.
CHINA NEW YEAR TRAFFIC: HALF A MILLION PASSENGERS.
Several interesting comments were made by the Chairman of the Hong Kong Tramways, Ltd., when he reviewed a very satis- factory year at the annual meeting of the Company, which was held in the Board Room of Messrs. Jardine, Matheson & Co., Ltd, yesterday, at noon.
The year was a record for the Company in respect of revenue and the number of passengers carried, both showing an increase of about 19 per cent, on the previous year...............
The double track between Shaukiwan and Quarry Bay has been completed, and it is hoped that before many years have passed. there will be a double track over the whole route between Shau- kiwan and Causeway Bay.
