COURSE OF LENTEN SERMONS BY THE DEAN.

THIS IS A DAY OF MANY BELIEFS, OR NONE,"

The Very Rev. the Dean of Hong Kong "(the Rev. A. Swann, M.A., D.8.C., is preaching a course of sermons in the Cathedral on Sunday mornings during Lent on the subject of "The Spirit's Message to the Churches" (Rev. II and III.).

The Dean" in these addresses is pointing out the lessons for to-day.to be gained from the messages addressed by the author of the Book of the Revelation to the Seven Churches of Aein. Last Sunday, after outlining his plan, the message to the Church of Ephesus was expounded, an account being also given of the condi tions and circumstances under which the Book of the Revelation was written.

The text was from Rev. II. v. 1 to 5 The address being as follows:-

I am taking my subject, on the Srst five Sundays in Lent, from the second and third Chapters of the Book of the Revelation of St. John the Divine, where he sends to the Churches of Asia Minor, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the individual messages of encourage ment and rebuke of which they stand in need.

I hope that, in this season of Lenk, we, who are in earnest about our Christian religion, may try to overhaul and purify and strengthen our spiritual life by grasping and aurreives these mes sages to those early Churches.
