Mr. F. A. Pollock,

One of our better jockeys is as leaving us to-day in the person af Erie Pollock. His success 53:2 rider is to my mind the least of his good qualities. He never allows his keenness to outrun his discre tion and is quick to anger at the alightest suggestion of anything not absolutely clean and above board. Close and continued association with racing has a tendency unean- sciously to bring down one's moral valors, but Pollock has successfully resisted this infurner. He helped to make "racing pleasant for those with whom he came in contact and it is a pity he is going away.
