VARIATION IN LOCAL CARGO,

BRITISH VESSELS MAKE FAIR RETURNS.

The week-end fraight returns showed considerable variation in the amount of cargo, both for this port and other ports.

On Saturday, when there were fire more arrivals recorded for the preceding twenty-four hours than there were yesterday, Hong Kong cargo was very low, while yester day it was nearly doubled, with lewer vessels contributing. Through freights were up on Saturday, but yesterday showed a "big drop. British vessels, on each day made a very fair showing.
