HOME FOOTBALL RESULTS.

SATURDAY'S LEAGUE MATCHES.

HEAVY GOAL SCORING THROUGHOUT.

THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27th,

The Christmas holiday League Football programme began si Home on Saturday, and was continued yesterday and will go on again to-day (Tuesday). The full fixtures for the three days wore published on Saturday morning, and below will be found the results of Saturday's matches. The results of matches played in the English League yesterday and those matches to be played to-day will appear in to-morrow's and Thursday's issue, respective ly. There were no hatches in the Scottish League yesterday, nor will there be today, but next week-end the Scottish League will have a full programine on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, while for the most part there will only be inatches in the English League on the Saturday and Monday.

Saturday's results are notable for a crop of goals in all divisions of the English League. Division I. came first with 54 goals, of which 38 ware stored by home teams, while the other three divisions all obtained just under 50 goala ench. Another" notabla point of interest is that there was not a single drawn match in Division I

Fives and sixes figured prominently in the results. In Division 1. Leicester City obtained six goals, and Aston Villa and West Ham United fire each. In Division II.. Leeds and the Wolves netted on five occasions, and in Division III. (Southern) Millwall obtained six goals, and Plymouth Argyle scored five, goala against are by " Crystal Palace Three teams in Division 11. (Northern) netted on five occasions each.

Two matches were not played. In Division III. (Southern) the Walsall. Torquay United match between Wigan Boro'. and Nelson did not come off.

A rather interesting result is that Portsmouth, who are still at. the bottom of Division I., beat Huddersfield Town, who are well up the tables.

There are a few changes in the League Table, but they are prin- cipally in Division. I. In the other divisions they are not of con- siderable importance, and mostly on account of goal average.

The chosen side did not shine against the Navy men and were somewhat lucky to be on level terms when the final whistle sounded. An early goal by Gosano gave the team the lead and a good chance for the Navy to level was afforded when Northey was brought down in the penalty area. The slight torque of the hickory shaft, absent in steel, works automatically on the samË principle as the bulgy-faced club, and minimises the error in striking.

It is a pity that the ninth green at Happy Valley has had to be moved inside the Race track. Any course as flat as this one is bound to lack something of excitement, and the most sporting shots on the course were the mashic shots to the fifth and last greens.
