REV. H. COPLEY MOYLE'S APPEAL ON BEHALF OF HIS SUCCESSOR.
There was a crowded congregation at St. John's Cathedral on" Sunday morning when the Rev. H. Copley Moyle, who is leaving by the Hakusan Maru on New Year's eve," preached his farewell
sermon.
"As I look back over the last fifteen years," he said, "I feel really thankful that the relations between this Cathedral and other Christian Churches in the Colony have been of the most friendly character.""
A strong appeal was made on behalf of his successor.
"Two things stand out very clearly in my memory of my first Sunday in Hong Kong," remarked the preacher. "One was the strangeness- of preaching with punkahe being pulled all over the Cathédral, and the other was the appalling array of empty pewa 'which confronted me. It is not a cheering spectacle to see empty seats, and I do appeal to everyone here this morning to come to Church on this [day fortnight to make my successor feel that the Church people of
Hong Kong do take a real interest in their Church."
