"The visit of the King of Egypt was a source of gratification to me and afforded an opportunity for a full exchange of views between the Egyptian Prime Minister and my Foreign Secretary. His Majesty trusted that the labours of the Indian Commission would be crowned with success and that from their counsels might emerge a system of Government which would give contentment to the people of India and strengthen the bonds that united the Empire. After reference to the new treaty with Irak mention was made of agreements concluded during the year with the Greek and Serberont- alovine Governments providing for the settlement of their respective war debts to this country and His Majesty expressed satisfaction that the funding agreement had now been signed in respect of all allied war debts except that of Russia.
