MACAO RACE CLUB.
FIFTH EXTRA RACE MEETING.
ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON'S SPORT.
[BY RAPIER.]
THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, MONDAY, DECEMBER 12th, 1927.
The Hong Kong and Canton Steamboat Company combined with the weather to make the journey to Macao very pleasant yesterday and the good ship Lungchan carried n full complement of passengers who enjoyed every moment of themooth and safe voyage to and from Macao. A fairly big crowd went over and although there was not much time to spare the officials of the Kace Club did, their work so well that the last race was over by alout 4 o'clock leaving ample time for visitors to get to the Wharf for the return journey to Hong Kong.
The racing was good and the dividends quite satisfactory. In the third race the winner paid $267.70! for a win and #133 for a place and in the last race thas wonderful pony Mowgli managed to win by a brad and rewarded his supporters with a -dividend of $17,70. M:. G. U. da Roza was the most successful jockey" of the day with Mr. Bulteel a good second. Mr. K. H. Chun has re- turned to the Colony after a visit to North China and naturally made his presence very much felt,
In the first race a contretemps arose which resulted in the winner Green Island going out upbacked and his running was the subject
of an unfortunate protest which was not sustained by the" Stewards, Verb Sap.
"Mr. P. M. Hodgson officiated as Starter and was really first class.
Mr. F. Sutton acted as Judge and Mr. R. J. Paterson was present in an.advisory capacity and was called! upon to help to decide a rather knotty point which he did I think with satisfaction to those concern. ed. Altogether it was a topping day and those who want a complete change should not miss a trip to Macao next meeting whenever it takes place.

SOME STEADY PLAY.
The semi-final round of the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club Champion- ship was played off yesterday morn, ing, and as a result L. R. Andrewcs and K. M. Smuch will meet in the final next Sunday. L. R. Andrewas is a newcorner to the final, but N. M. Smith won the Championship ia 1921.
There was some steady golf play- ed in the Brat match between Andrewed and G. Murray. An- drewes was hitting a long ball, both from the tee and off his irons through the green, and Murray usually had to play the odd.
Neither player was giving much away, and a shot slipped generally meant the loss of a hole. Androwes was especially consistent, and his round of approximately 19 repre- sented golf of good quality with no very outstanding features. Murray on the other hand duffed a shot now and then, both on the tee and through the green, and these few errors cost him the match on the 18th green.
The second match, between R. M. Smith and H. G. Sheldon, went to Plyces lat. 8123: 2nd, 7.70; Smith at "Sandy's Pulpit." Shel- don lasing by 3 and 4. In this garae Sheldon could do nothing right. He won the Short Hole" and the Rise to make him one up, but after that he was always struggling for halver. Smith was up at the turn and won comfort ably without being compelled to produce any very great golf.
