Yesterday's shipping returns showed moderate freights for Hong Kong, and fairly heavy through

cargoes.

For the twenty-four hours ending at 9 am, yesterday there, were 12.015 tons of cargo discharged here, this including 1,980 tons brought ou three British steamers, and 10,000 tons on ressels of other nationalities. The best freights "were 3,070 tons of coal on Japanese steamer, and two cargues of 1,041 tons and 1.900 tons of genemnt merchandise on a Japanese and Chinese steamer, respectively. Through freights totalled 20,230 tons, with 1,680 tons in three British ships, and 18,330 tons in six vessels of other fags. The best freights ware 2,400 tons, 4,000 tons, 2,800 tons, 5,330 tons and 3,002 tons.
