Beauty secrets were discussed in the King's Bench Division October 18th in an action for damages brought by beauty specialist who alleged that she had lost her fresh complexion and fine figure through food poisoning,
The plaintiff was Mias Helen Richarda, aged 48, of Wellington
quare, Chelsen, S.W. She sued Messrs. Appenrode, Ltd., of Strand, W.C., who denied that the poisoning arose out of food sold at their restaurant or that such food was unfit for human con- sumption.
Mr. Samuel, for the plaintiffy said that on June 2nd, 1026, Miss Richards went to Appenrodt's restaurant and had a liver ausage sandwich, some Russian salad, and 1 cup of coffee. Later at the theatre she became ill and had to consult her doctor, under whose care she remained for three weeks, although she was unable to return to her employment until May 17th, 1927.
