PROSECUTION STATEMENT AS TO SHELLS FIRED BY "L.4.”
The case for the prosecution against the seven men arrested in connection with the piracy of the ss. Frene was opened at the Central Magistracy yesterday before Mt. R. E. Lindsell In the coarse of the Captain's evidence, given not without humour, une of the pirates, whom Captain Jahnsen identified as the second, defondant, was said to have promised a big cumshaw to the Captain if,a od nul was made. He changed his mind after half an hour later and withdrew the money.
These seven suspiels have been identified by about 40 persons and it is expected that the magisterial bearing will occupy many days
