The Colony's imports totalled 18,378 toas, of which, 3,000 tons were unloaded by four British Airdorf, Oct. 2nd, ships. The two best returns were Ergland, Nov. 30th. shown by foreign vessels. The ssssen, Oct. 25th, Ali War, from Nagasaki account Ramct, Nov. 17th. ed for 6,343 tons, and the Ner-Fogtland, Dec. 14th. wegian vessel Hermelin, brought 2.367 toms from Kohaichang.

Through cargoes amounted to 20,718 tons. Four British vessels were responsible for 9,151 tons. The two best carriers were the s. Philoctetes (British) from Shang- bai and the sp Olderkerk, Irom Manila The former vessel carried 8,000 toría and the latter ship had 4,800 tona.

The river boat Avong Tung ply- ing between here and Canton went aground on the Hankow Bank in the Front Reach, about seven miles below Canton. She left here at midnight on Monday and was ashore in the early morning of Tuesday. A Chinese gunboat stood. by to protect her from pirates.

Later reports reaching the Colony yesterday afternoon stated that the Awang Tung had been refloated by the morning tide and had proceed- | "MUNGOLIA " ed to Canton safely.

The Ceylon Maru, from Yokohama and Moj had 100 cases muriatic acid and 30 cases ralphuric acid for Hong Kong. She also carried 230 cases of sulphuric acid for other ports. On the Deli Mami, another 300 cases of spirit of wine.
