The unusual acceleration of the Whippet Six sad the efficiency of its four-wheel brake equipment was clearly demenstrated in a test re- cently made near Los Angeles, U.S.A., when the Whippet Six established a record of 50 miles.

At the conclusion of the test trip the driver said that one feature of the Whippet Six which played an important part in the record break- ing run was the car's low centra, of gravity and its ability to bold the road at high speed and to hug the concrete highway when the brakes were suddenly applied.

A large number of launches and motor boats each full of spectators followed the competitors from start to finish. Last year the Misses Hunt secur- ed the first two places and the Chinese girl third. This time the elder Miss Hunt repeated her per formance reducing her time by almost ten minutes, which is indeed very creditable. Miss Ha Kit Chee covered the

The annual rifle shoot of the Portuguese Company of the Bong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps was held on Sumlay at Stonecutter Range, the competitions taking place in conjunction with the firing of Part II. of the Musketry Course..

There were 44 competitors, who were classed as undez:-One marks- man, four first class shots, and 32
