The favourable weather attracted a bigger crowd than usual at The Valley yesterday afternoon and the cash sweeps were larger than they were on Saturday and the dividends quite satisfactory to those who were fortunate enough to pick out the winners. His Excellency The Officer Administering the Government was again present as was His Excellency Major General Luard C.B., C. M.G., Rear-Admiral W. H. D. Boyle, C.B., and many other prominent Naval and Military Officers and residents of the Colony. I was glad to see Saligia win the last race as it shows that he is by no means a hack number and Pollock had the good sense to keep him away from the heavy going as much as possible which must have made a tremendous digréner, Lt. Col. Hall Brutton took up his duties as Starter again and performed them in manner which was satisfactory even to the Jockeys and Owners who are usually the, severest of critics. The Stewards of the Jockey Club and The Clerk of the Course are to be congratulated apon a most successful wook end's racing in spite of the deluge on. Saturday. The honours were evenly distributed Mr. Ho Kem Tong 2 races, Mrs. R. J. Paterson 2. The Macao. Race Club 2 winning Mears. Hall and Shenton I and Mr. L Dunbar scored a victory with San Francisco Bay the only pony he had entered... finishes were quite good except when Mr. Ho Kom Tong's Town Hall and City Hall were out and they, of course, are at the moment in a class by themselves.
