BIG CHANDU SEIZURE,
ON THE S.S. "TALMA."
A seizure of illicit chandu valued at 850,000 was made at 4 a.m. last Wednesday on board the Talmo, birthed at a Tanjong Pagar wharf. The seizure was the sequel to a search following a watch kept on the vessel for three days.
The drug was found in kerosine ail tins and bags hidden under four- feet of ecal.

When the Devania left Penang. last week she took Capt. William Brown who, with Mrs Brown. is proceeding to England un retirement. Captain Brown serv ed his apprenticeship in Ballers. He came ou to Pen- ang for the B.I. Company and for some time had charge of the Hoe Quan line of atehmers. He left this line to join the Pilut Associa tion years ago. For the past 14 years he has been the pilot of the P. & O. Company and a member of the Pilot Board for 9 years. The last ship he brought in was the P. & O. Malun on September 8th.
Due for leave in February, Capt. Brown, who is a native of Braughty Ferry, Forfarshire has, oa medical KASHMI advice, retired. The best wishes, of Lau
