There was a decreased tonnage of
[ST LONGSHOREMAN.] freights registered for the Colony and for ports beyond during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday. Yesterday the Meridian Star was There were only eleven vessels ar- taken off the run for overhaul, and riving during the same period.

"President Talt "Commander Dies Of Pasumonia.
Captain C. M, Cochrane, com- mander of the Dollar Liner, Prent dent Taft and well-known" figure in Pacific shipping circles, died at sex on September 9th, according to a letter received at the Manila offices of the Dollar Lines.
While the President Taft was still three days out of Seattle, re- turning from her last visit to Manila, Captain Cochrane died of pneumonia, understood to have been contracted while in the Crient. Captain Cochrane was the young- est commander in the Dollar Line
been in the merchant marine ser service. But 33 years old, he had vice for nearly 20 years. He came to the Dollar Lines with the pur- chase of the President Taft in June,

Captain Cochrane is survived by Mra Cochrane and two children, who reside in San Francisco.
