Seized Steamships Returned. Vessels owned by the China Merchants Steam-Navigation Co. which were commandeered by the Nanking Government some time ago to be used by the military, are to be returned to the company, ac- cording to local Chinese news- papers, says the Shanghai Times.

The order, it was stated, was ande following a telegraphic request sub- mitted by the company to the authorities at Nanking. Accord Regular ingly the Nanking officials ordered the immediate release of the steam. ers King Chen and Fiang An. It is also understood that the steamers King Dah, Kiang Ching and King Tien, will shortly be released by the Nanking authorities.

The seizure of the ships of the concern has resulted in a heavy loss for the company, which is. Chinese- owned.

For several months a num- ter of the vessels of the concern

have been lying idle in the stream here, rather than be placed in sér- viea and subject to "seizure.

Returned From Bea. The Asia (Dutch) returned here yesterday, have proceeded to sea for the purpose of cleaning out casks,
