A Dutch exchange, says the Straits Times, contains some die tails of the proposals that havo been put before the Dutch Govern- ment by the Royal Dutch Air Ser- vice of Holland for the establish ment of a weekly air service for passengers between Holland and Batavia.
It is proposed to use eight Fokker three-motor machines, and the pro- posal is based on the estimate that each fight will take ten daya.

Of interest is the fact that it was in a machine of the Royal Dutch Air Service that Mr. van Leak Black, the American million- aire with banking interests, recent. ly flew from Holland, to Batavia and back, stopping at Singapore an the way out. **
In the absence of a statement as to whether there will be a stop at Rangoon, the proposed rout with the exception that Constan tinople and Singapore will be left out, will be substantially the same
vised which could reconcile Angio American parity at sea, Japanese requirements, our imperial neces- sities, and a smaller shipbuilding programme. To most Englishmen who are not of the peace-at-any-It price school of thought it is a re- lief to have London once more the headquarters of British policy in- stead of Geneva. The strength of the British Navy is not a fit cub ject to be decided by foreigners.
At the same time the Conference showed that although we have CROTA at stake than any other nation when it comes to maintaining a Navy suited to our needs, we are willing to go a long way to aroid competition in armaments. The Japanese followed the British lead. The Americans wanted more than we could, with safety to imperial interests, concede. They wanted a small number of powerful cruisers heavily armed; we required a large number of smaller cruisers with moderate armament to protect our trade routes. We alone went to Geneva with a practicable scheme, and we alone put all our cards on

that followed by the American millionaire, who was reported by a Straits Timer interviewer to have expressed the opinion, on alighting from his plane, that a Holland Java "every bit passenger service was feasible."
Mr. Van Lear Black at the time strongly disclaimed all interest in the proposed service, regarding which it was rumoured at the time that American banking interests had been approached.
