The following Bill, which it is pro posed to introduce into the. Legis lative Council at an early date, is published for general information in the current Government Gazette.

The Bill in question is intituled Ordinance to enable certain areas to be declared prohibited areas with a view to the protection. of afforestation operations. The Bill has been made necessary by the practice of cutting down and spoil. ing trees planted by the Forestry Department. It gives the Govern- ment power to exclude everyone any afforested area and one such area has been proclaimed between Tai Tam harbour on the West and Big Wave Bay and Shek O on the East. The Ordinance is to he termed the Prohibited Areas (Afforestation) Ordinance, 1927.

The clauses states:-

It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council to declare any area to be a prohibited area'it he considers it desirable to do so with a view to the protection of afforestation ope rations.
