decreased number of arrivals, to well below the daily average, there was a drop in freight returns over the week-end. It is interesting to note, however, that Saturday's returns, although show- ing fewer vessels arriving than yesterday's reporta recorded more cargo for this

Freight for Hong Kong on Satur day totalled 7,052 tons, of which 2,867 tons were in British bottoms, with 2,130 tons in one steamer. Of the remainder of the freight there were 3,750 tons of rice in one vessel. Through cargo totalled 4,006 tons, with 3,636 tons in one ship.

YESTERDAY'S RETURN.
The Colony's imports during the period ended at 9 a.m. yesterday were lower than the average. Ten cargo carriera entered, "eight with cargo for Hong Kong, to a total 6 3,197 tous. Of this only five fons Was British. Through cargo mounted to 14,337 tons, of which 412 tons was carried in British bottoms.
Cargoes were generally small. The best were 820 tons per Taikwa Maru and 687 tons per Tjimanock. Miscellaneous cargoes for Hong Kong included 175 tons of hemp and 3 tons of lead (President Jackson), sugar, wax, lubricants (Tjimanoek) and 500 tons of coal (Taikua Maru).
There were 10 arrivals and 11 departures. Arrivals were as fol- lows:-British, 1; American, 1; French, 1; Dutch, 1; Norwegian, 1; Japanese, 4; and Chinese, 1.
