Two masters of fishing junks were each fined 87 by Lt.-Comdr. G. F. Hole at the Marine Court Fester day for using bright lights to at-

tract fisk

and no less than 14,433 tens were passengers entering the Colony dur- unloaded. Two British vessels wereing the 4 hours ended at 9 am responsible for 2,914 tons. The two yesterday was 931.. best returns were 4,000 tons and 4,380 tons. The former were brought by the British steamer Gorgistan from Passaman, and the latter by the 5.3. Kokshan Maru from Wakamatsu and KaraĖJA.

Through cargoes were manifested by five vessels. The total amount carried was 0,892 tona One British steamer, the Machaon, from Toko- hama and Shanghai accounted for 5,000 tons. The next heaviest re turn was 4,182 tons on the Akila Maru, from Calcutta and Singapore.

The Danish steamer Bintang arriving into part yesterday with 10 steerage passengers from Bang- kok and Foochow, reported the death on August 5th of a steerage passenger from consumption and on the following day another suc- cumbed to beri-beri.

**Argus" Back in Harbour, B.M.S. Argus, the aircraft car rier, which recently arrived in port from the North, was undocked yes- terday morning and went to her previous bucy opposite Holt's Wharf and Wanchai.
