WHAT THE PEACE PACT BETWEEN PEKING AND NANKING EMBODIES.
The Doyen of the Diplomatic Body at Poking, very properly worried as to whether Paking Government might follow the bad example of Nanking with regard to the Customs - tariff, haa interviewed that Government's Foreign Minister. He (the Doyen) expressed the hope that Peking would not not in the manner of Nanking. It appears that the Foreign Minister, was mot at all sympathetic.
There is a dearth of fresh news as to what is taking place at the various war fronts in the North, but one gathers that in some sort of skirmish in north Kiangai the Bankow troops (evidently those of the Moderatës) haye had a set back at the hands of the troops whose objective, it would appear, is Kwangtung..
Marshal Feng's troops are reported to have arrived at the much discussed town of Hsuchow, where they have joined up with the Nanking troops. Their objective is stated to be Tsinanfu.

SHANGHAI, August 5th. Interviewed by a Japanese jour- nalist, Mr. Pan Fu, the Peking Prime Minister, said that the Peace Pact between Nanking and Peking is merely effective within the area along the Tientsin-Pukow Railway, while in the areas connected with the Langhai and Kin-Han railways, the Fengtienese Army may continue to launch attacks on Marshal Feng Yu Hsiang.
