INDO-CHINA STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY REPORT A SMALL LOSS,

CHAIRMAN'S WARM TRIBUTES TO OFFICERS ON YANGTSZE STEAMERS.

TRADE ABOVE HANKOW AT STANDSTILL.

A comprehensive review of the year's working was given by the Chairman at the 48th ordinary general meeting of the Indo- China Steam Navigation Company, Ltd., held at the offices of the General Managers, Mesars. "Jardine, Matheson & Co., Ltd.,. yesterday morning.

The many difficulties arising through the chaotic" conditions in the Yangtase, and through the effects of the South China boycott were referred to and it was pointed out that despite the many set-backs to shipping, the Company had only experienced a loss of £28,752 on the actual working of the steamers, compared with a loss of £303,348 the previous year.

A detailed review of shipping activities, and conditions pre- vailing on the Yangtze was given and the accounts wers also gone

into.

The Hon Mr. D. G. M. Bernard (Chairman) presided at, the meet. ing, and was supported by Mr. H, P White and Mr. D. J. Davies (Directors), and Messrs. R. Suther land, W. B. Carnaby, Ho. Leung, E. B.
