The scores ran close, in the first and second rounds at the Portuguese asserted their super. iority in the third and last round by winning all three sets. Remedios and R. TIENTSIN, June 27th. The outstanding individual per formance of the Interpart cricket nitch between Tientsin and P'cking on the Min Yuan, which the home site won with four wickets to spare, was the ningnificent bowling of M. Powell, of Peking. As a physical feat alone it was sufficiently remark- #life. He bowled 19 consecutive uvers, and though the luncheon in terval intervened, at least 12 these overs
were bowled in the afternoon. And this on a day of torrid heat, with the temperature reaching three figures in the, shnde. His last over was as good as bi First For enduraner, consistency, and length his bowling was of n class apart.
Powell bowls well over mediuni pace, has a beautifully easy netion, and delivers from his full height, Five balls of very over would be -dead-on-the-stumps, and he had Lo be played-and played most watchfully-the whole time. It is probably accurate to say that be did not send down more than half a dozen loose balls the whole time. Next to Powell's bowling, Camp bell's batting stood out, Mingling caution with courage, and picking out the right ball to hit, Campbell was batting nearly two hours for his $1. The duel between him and Powell at a critical stage of the match, when a sudden rot set in among the local batamen, was one of the dramatic passages of the game.
Peking won the toss, and natural- ly decided to bat, Pritebard and Williams going in to face Bandine! and Johansson. Both batsmen were careful, Pritchard, however, getting a couple of good hits to the leg boundary. With the score at 22 he completely misjudged n slower ball from the left-hander and was clean bowled.

Scores:
Tientsin had 25 minutes' batting before lunch, and scored 45, for the lues of Pryor's wicket. Penueli and Pryor opened against Powell and Pritchard, and this partnership pro- duced the brightest batting of the whole match. While Pennell main tained a watchful defence, against the difficult bowling of Powell, and occasionally drove him along the carpet through the covers, Pryor reaped a impid harvest of runs off Pritchard, the Peking slow bowler, who was unable to find his length.
Campbell stayed with Pennell till the luncheon interval, when the score was 48 for 1. Both teams sat down to tiffin together in the Masonic Hall, and resumed play at 3 o'clock. The breeze which sprang up before the adjournment, al blew the dust about the field, died down in the afternoon, and it was vory oppressive-when Tientsin re- suming batting. Hodgson joined Campbell, and both watched Powell skilfully, while treating the bowling from the other nd with scant respect.
