BUT PLENTY OF UNEMPLOYED MEN FOUND TO UNLOAD.

MANILA, June 15th.

-There is little chance of the stevedores' strike being settled amicably with the attiinde the con lending parties ar showing, ne cording to Director of Labour Cruiz. Up to noon to-day, says the Manila Time of last Wednesday, the leaders of the striking workmen and officials of the Lozon Stevedor ing Company had arrived at no- thing definite in regard to the prin cipal demand of the strikers-i- crease in wages, said Director Cruz, The strikers are firm in thier de- mand for wage increase, while uffeinds of the stevedoring company likewise insist that the demand unreasonable. The labourers wanh an increase of P. a day.

The President Taft, with a large Cargo, arrived this morning and tied up at Pier early this alter noon, but the striking stevedores refused to handle the cargo. The unloading of cargo will be placed in the hands of foremen and as sistant foremen, with the assistance of labourers recruited from the un employed in the city, it was lear ed this morning.
