HOW IT EFFECTS HONG KONG.
An important improvement has been effected to the cable service between Aden, Colombo and Singa pore by the introduction of the e
generator into the Colombo office of the Eastern Telegraph Co., says the Ceylon Observer of May 10th.
This has not only increased the working speed of the messages be. tween London, Colombo and Singa For by 30 per cent, without im pairing areuracy, bút has also made it pernetically impossible for any "fault" to creep into a message,
In Double Quick Time, As a result of the introduction of this instrument an urgent message from Loudon to Colombo cản, now be delivered in about 20 minutes, whereas it took over double the time before. It should be noted that the 20 minutes include the working time aver the message at both ends. which takes much more time than the time taken by the actual trans Dasion. But now a message, can be trans ferred directly from London to Alexandria, or Aden to Singapore, and at the same time it can be caught up in any of the intervening stations.
