Only nine vessels, arrived here during the 24 hours ended at 9 am yesterday. The total amount of general merchandise imported into the Colony showed a decrease, but through cargoes were heavier than they have been for the past two days.

Through freights totalled 21,819 The Swedish steamer Suma ira, from Danzig and Singapore carried 8,450 toms and the Hessen 6.337 tons. In addition to the above 2,000 tons of rice were brought into the Colony.

There were nine arrivals and fourteen departures during the period under review. The nation alities were:-British, 2 arrivals and 4 departures; American, 1 arrival and 2 departures; German, I arrival; Norwegian, 1 arrival and 1 departure; Swedish, 1 arrival; Japanese, arrival and 4 depar tures; and Chinese, 2 arrivals and 3 departures.

Ammunition From America, A Chinese passenger who arrived here by the President Taft was arrested for having in his possession 109 rounds of ammunition which he concealed in the sides of a packing

case.

He was taken before Mr. W. Schofield at the Kowloon Magis tracy yesterday morning and was fined $1,000.

Chinese Passangers' Traffic. During the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, mly 374 Chinese came to the Colony and of these 233 passed through on their way to Amoy.

The S.9. "President Taft.” The Dollar. liner President Taft arrived here from San Francisco and Shanghai on Monday evening with 66 cabin and 404 steerage passengers. Of these 36 cabin and 956 steerage passangers disebarked here.

The liner brought 1,700 tons of general cargo for this port and carried 3,500 sons for other ports.

Among the passengers were:- Mr. and Mrs J. S. Coloath, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Maes, en route to Manila, and Mr. and Mrs. G. K. Howard, Mr. and Mrs W. C. Halbert, Mr. S. Dithmer and Miss L. Schoedler, en route to Java.

Glasgow, will be the liner to carry out the Afth world tour under the C.P.R. organisation. She is to leave New York m December and this year, and will call at the usual ports included in world tour pro- grammes Christmas will be spent in the Holy Land, New Year's Eve in Cairo, Chinese New Year in China. The vessel is due to arrive here at 8 am on Friday, February 10th, 1928, and will sail for the North at 10 p.m. on Monday," February 13th.
