Yeates "raised the bottom end of his bedstead on two chairs and then got underneath the bed. He placed a woman's shoe on an iron mending last, which he placed over bis throat' in such a position as to be caught by the end of the bed when it descended. Then he knocked away the chairs and was suffocated.
Yeates had been going out with a woman, who said that there had been no quarrel.
