LONDON, March 16th. Press messages received to-day from Shanghai predict the early capture by the Cantonese forces of Nanking, the old capital of China, 200 miles west of Shanghai. The town of Lishin, which is 50 miles south-south-west of Nanking, is re- ported to be occupied by Southern inrces.
With the capture of Nanking, the Cantonese would be strike the rail- way connecting Shanghai with the north and south, and it is, there fore, believed to be the key Shanghai.

LONDON, March 18th: An aeroplane crashed to-day at Elem, near Folkestone. Flying Officer Priestman and Leading Air- craftsman Pickering were killed.
