There were about 100 members and guests present last night. at the 2nd annual dinner of the Institution of Engineers and Shiphuilders of Hong Kong, the function being held in the Institute Rooms.

His Excellency prophesised that great progress would be made in the future in railway transportation, and hinted that the sima would come when one would be able to buy a through ticket from Kowloon to Calais. He also referred to the future of engineering in China with regard to motar-road construction, the development of air routes, sanitary engineering and town planning. The dintier was held in the large assembly hall of the Institute, which presented a very cheerful and friendly appearance, the walls having been draped with nations!
