Despite a heavy list of arrivals during the 24 hours ended at 9 am yesterday, general merchandiso in ported into the Colony was atill below the average. Through car goes, however, were heavy,

The Colony's importa amounted to 12,411 tona. These were contri. buted by no less than 17 vessels, ofi which, six were British. These dis charged 0,906 tona

The two beat returns were shown. by the 5.6. Prominent and the Britiah str. Chinhua, The, former arriving from Saigon brought 2,317 tons and the latter from Bangkok was responsible for 1,888 tong.

In addition to general merchan diae landed here, there was also a total of 6,535 tons of rice which were carried by three vessels,

Through cargoes which were car ried by 12 steamers amounted to 30,252 tons. Of these, 8,380 tons were manifested on five British vessela. The two best returns were 7,139 tons and 8,400 tons. The former was carried by a Katori Maru, from London and Singapore, and the lattor was on the British steamer Troilus, from Birkenhead and Sin. guporn.

During the period under review there were 24 arrivals and 17 de- partures The nationalities were: British, 7 arrivals and depar- [tures; Japanese, 7 arrivals "cad 4 departures; Norwegian, 2 depar tures; Chinese, 3 arrivals and 1 departure; Dutch, 1 arrival and 1 departure French, 1 arrival; Ger- man, I arrival; America, 2 ar rivals and departures.

The total number of vessels in port was $5, of which, 25 werd British.
