The Imports and Exports Office removed some time ago to the Government Building on the Praya, near the Central Market, and since then the scheme for the re-arrange ment of the Harbour Department has been in progress. .. ..

La brief the changes are as under :-

The Entries and Clearance Office has been transferred to the former Junk Office, and the latter office is

jin a portion of the building former

ly occupied by the Imports and Ex- ports Office. Next to this office is the office of the Chief Inspector and assistanta

The Correspondence Office has gone into what has hitherto been the Entry and Clearance Office: while the registry clerks work in the place formerly occupied by the Correspondenes Office.

The Chief Boarding Officer and" his assistants are located in another portion the old Imports and Ex- ports Office.

The Harbour Master's Office and the Assistant Harbour Master's Office remain situated as before, namely on the first floor.

In addition to the rearrange- ment of the different departments the interior of the Harbour Office has generally been renovated, and presents a much improved appear- ance.

The general view of shipowners. appears to be that the question is not one that can be dealt with by legislation ог international con- vention,
