MORRIS HOLDER OF TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS,

"RİNGSIDER."]

· LEADING' JAPANESE PLAYER ABSENT:

Five matches are down for deci sion this afternoon on the Cricket Club courts in the Open Singles Championship of the Colony. OF The sixth tournament arranged these it will be possibla to play four by the Hong Kong Boxing Associa as H. Unotero,, who is to meet tion, and held at the Theatro H. D. Rumjshn, is in Japan and, Royal on Saturday evening, was therefore, concedes the latter a walk the most successful of the present over

season.

There was a good attendance, and each bout was full of interest.

Of the six events, three went the full distance, two finished by knock outs and the championship fight between Morris and Dixon came to an end in the ninth round whan Dixon's seconds throw in the towel. Merris now holds the Middleweight and Welterweight Championships of the Colony.

As is often the case, the big fight, between Morris, H.M. S. Her.

cs, Middleweight Champion of the Colony, and Dixon, E.M.S. Frohisher, Welterweight Champion of the Mediterranean Fleet, for the Welterweight Championship of the Colony, was the only contest which failed to produce a thrill, and mediocre describes the bout from a spectators point of view.

Morris had a slight advantage in the matter of weight, the men weighing in at 143 and 141 lbs., and from the first round was much too strong for Dixon.. The latter oc casionally gave glimpses of real boxing ability, but was generally content to COTIT up and keep Morris off. Morris is certainly very dangerous man to attempt to

box

During the first three rounds, both men displayed extreme caution, and there was Dot a 'real blow struck, Morris playing for the body and Dixon occasionally landing lightly on the jaw with the left.

The fourth round was alightly in favour of Morris, who changed. his tactics, and made more use of the ring than is his wont.

At the commencement of the fifth round the referce entered the ring, but the bout continued in the same scrambling manner, Morris obvious- ly endeavouring to get close to land a knock-put. Dixon's blowa were painfully weak and Morris was never troubled.

'Horace Lo, who it will be remem-, bered beat H. D. Rumjahn, in sur- prising manner last year, will ap- pear to-day against 8. Fejita.
