The imports of general merchan Jise into the Colony, and goods carried for porta beyoud Hong Kong showed a decrease yesterday. During the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, only 10,460 tons of gene ral cargo were brought into Hong. Kong, of which, 875 tons were dia "charged from one British steamer,
The two best returns were regis tered by the President McKinley (American) and the Norwegian vessel, Hankefjeld.. The former steamer, arriving from Senttle and Shanghai, brought 2,324 tons, and the latter boat from Chinwangtao
carried 3,395 tons.
There were through freights on 6 vessels out of the 14 afrivala, The setal tonnage carried was 19,036, of which three British steamers com tributed 8,313 tona.
The Blue Funnel liner Surpedon from Dairen and Shanghai and 6,149 tons, and the s.a. fresklent McKinley carried 2,007 tons for Manila.

SHIPPING NOTES.
The total number of Asiatice deck passengers entering Hong Kong during the 24 hours ended at 9 cm. yesterday was 313.
The master of the s.s. Tjikurang in a report to the Harbour Office states that a Chinese deck passen- ger died on board the ship during the voyage to Hong Kong from Sourabaya and Muntok,
