YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT

STATEMENTS.

LOCAL AND THROUGH

CARGOES NORMALT

The returns made to the Harbour office by vessels arriving here dur ing the 24 hours ended at S.am yesterday showed that freights for the Colony and for porta beyond have returned to the normal

Local imports of general mer chandise were discharged from ten steamers of the thirteen arrivala The total amount landed was 11,589 tens with 7,000 tons from four British vessels

The two best returns were shown by the sa. Tyndarcus (British) and the Presdens Garfield. The former arriving from Seattle and Moli brongat 3,000 tone and the lattor From Boston and Shanghai, 1,659

tons.

Of the 13 arrivals, through

freights were carried by five steamera, amounting to 11,597 to Two British vessels contributed 2,380 tons. The heaviest freights were carried by the President Gar- feld, whose manifest showed 4,718 tons for ports beyond Hong Kong, and the Japanese vessel Honolulu Vary, which came into port from Yokohama and Moji, manifested 4,200 tons.

During the period under review there were 13 arrivals and 11 de partures. Their nationalities wore :: British, arrivals and 4 depar- tures; Japanese, 3 arrivals and 3 departures; Chiness, 1 arrival and 1 departure; Dutch, 1 arrival, and departures; Freach, I departure; American, 1 arrival.

SHIPPING NOTES.

The RM.S. Empress of Russia is due to-day from Manila, and will, after ber arrival, proceed for annual docking and overhaul. The Empress of Canada will come out of Dock in the course of a day or two and will sail for the North and Vancouver, next Wednesday, thas joining the Empress of datz, which has already been overhauled and re painted white (pre-war colour) on the run. The Empress of Russia the last of the liners to go to dock on the trans-Pacific_run, will sail

and the usual schedule will then become operative,
