that Memorialist, under the orders of the late Sir James Maitland, Lord High Commissioner of "The Ionian Islands, proceeded to London to seek redress from Lord Castlereagh, then the Minister for Foreign Affairs, to whom and to the Earl Bathurst he was further recommended by the same kind friend; but with his death Memorialist lost very support, and after fruitless attendance and delay of four Years he could only reap an evasive Verbal Reply and Neglect. attached to the Offices of Consul, which he was entitled to for the capture of Murat's Flotilla and Treasure, so that the Appointment did not in any degree compensate him for the losses sustained.
That Memorialist in May 1845 again entered the Service of the British Government as Clerk at the Colonial Treasury at Hongkong. Where he continued & performed the duties of the Office till the 27th February 1850 when he received Leave of Absence on Medical Certificate that his health had suffered in consequence of the insalubrity of the Climate.
