The returns for the 24 hours ended a: a.m. yesterday showed that only 6,625 tons of general cargo wers discharged here from 9 vessels out of the 11 arrivals.
The best retart was shown by the 2. Borneo, which brought 2,430 tons from Haiphong.

In addition to the general cargo discharged, there was a shipment of 1,565 tons of oil fuel, which was brought into the Colony by the as Lompoc (British) from San Pedro.
Through freights were manifested 7th, 1997. on a reasels and amounted to 17,681 tons. The best returns ware 5,750 tous carried by the Japanese vessel Sweden Maru, from Rotterdam and Singapore, and 3,917 tons on the 9.3. dkita Maru, which came into port from Calcutta and Singapore.
The arrivals and departures dur- ag the period under review were: British, 4 arrivals and 8 depar tures; Japanese, 4 arrivals and 2 departures; Norwegian, arrival and 3 departures; Chinese arrival and 1 departure; Dutch arrival and 9 departures; French, } arrival; and American, 1 depar ture,

The total number of deck pas- sengers catering in Hong Kong. during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.. yesterday was 687.
Out of 99 passengers who arrive here on Tuesday on the Douglas ss. Zaiyang, fourteen were describ ed as babies "travelling on deck.

Seven mistresses and four masteri of trading junks were fined $5 with the option of five days hard labour by Licht. Comdr. G. F. Hole, R.N, at the Marine Court yesterday morning, for mooring their crafts at a distance of less than 100 yards from low water mark between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
For carrying cargo other than passengers' luggages as allowed by his licence, the master of a passen- ger junk was fined $10 or ten days' hard labour.
