FUN AND FROLIC THE ORDER.
Following the usual custom the afternoon of New Year's ‚ ' Day was set apart at the Kowloon Cricket Club and at the` Police Recreation Club for the entertainment of members' chil- dren. Ideal weather, bright, sunny, and with a bracing nip in the air favoured the events.

At both places children and grown ups entered alike into the spirit of the occasion. and spent a thoroughly happy time.

JUNKS OVERTAKEN.
According to police reports of yesterday morning, pirates from the Bins Bay area overtook two Hong Kong bound junks, one of which they succeeded in, boarding and taking away.
One of the two junks managed to escape and brought word of the affair to Hong Kong. The two junks were sailing in company, the masters being cousins. THE POLICE CLUB XMAS PARTY.
A HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION.
The annual Xmas party at the Police Recreation Club proved usual a very succesful event.
There was a large attendence, and while fun in plenty was pro- vided for the children, the adults were entertained with interesting and amusing events.
Mrs. E..D. C. Wolle was presented during the afternoon with a hand- some bouquet.
Replying on behalf of his wife the Hod. Mr. E. D. C. WOLFE (Cap- tain Superintendent of Police) zald that he was sorry that the younger members of the Force had not con- tributed more to the success of the function. It was apparent, said Mr. Wolfe, that the senior members of the Force were to the fore, and he hoped that upon futare occasions the younger members would also take their part.
