An early indication of the change of name of the Admiral Oriental Line to the American Mail Line, was to be seen in the new painting of the President Jefferson's fannel. This is the first ship. of the line to carry the new house fag, which is similar to that of the old Pacific Mail bunting, displacing the five star emblem of the Admiral Oriental
Messrs. Butterfield & Swire bave taken the ss. Fatthan off the Canton run (she was laid up on her return from Canton on Wednesday afternoon, as stated yes- terday) and this means a curtailment, for the time being, of the Hong Kong Canton service, as the Taishan, the usual night boat of the Steamboat Company is at present refitting, The Lungthas is on the night run, and in the meanwhile the Kinshan has to make alternate rugs, so that on one day there is no day boat to Canton, and the next no day boat from Canton. Full particulare of the service are given in an advertisement on our front page. The Taishan resumes the night run next Tuesday morning at two o'clock, following the return of the Lungshan on the Monday night. The Kinahan will continue on the day run for the time, and the Lungshan will prob- ably revert to this at the end of next- week. The Fatshan in lying up at Stone cutters Island-where she will remain un- til there is an improvement in the pre- rent situation. They have taken her off rather than comply with the demands of the Seamen's Union.
