THE FERRIES. ALTERATIONS OF WHARFS IN *PROGRESS.

Plans are in hand for alterations at the ferry, which it is hoped will prevent to a great extent the impeding of out, ward and inward traffic. Extrance and exit points are to be clearly defined by barriers and. immediate access to the gangway when embarking will be made by a gate at point much. nearer, to, the seaward end of the wharf than at present: Those disembarking will land in a similar manner to that provided for

under the existing system

The ticket office will be on the right hand side of the fairway" and incom ing and outgoing passengers are asked

to keep to the right between barriers.

Whereas, previously, passengers cluster-

ed at the gate closely adjoining the pre sent ticket office, the urge will now be towards the end of the wharf and recop struction is now in hand for an extension of the wharf by 30 feet to allow protec- tion for waiting passengers.--
